DESTINY FATE 

Born in the year when it was poor in food ,
how he wanted to bite a mouthful of white steamed bun,
eager for a new green army uniform for the spring festival .

Going to shool in the years when it was poor in talents ,
how he studied hard to make progress every day ,
eager for a good fortune made by knowledge .

Working in the years in Reform and Opening progress , 
how he has been making his living out of work 
since the transformation of the enterprise ,
eager to see the wonderful world outside , struggling for his future .

At old age , striving for a better-off life ,
holding on to his young dream and hope ,
drifting across the country ,
eager for the family union ,
enjoying the rest of his life .

生于那个物质匮乏的年代，
总想吃上一口白蒸馍，
盼望过年穿上崭新的绿军装。

上学是在那个人才匮乏的年代，
好好学习，天天向上。
盼望知识改变命运。

工作是在那个社会转型的年代，
企业改制分流下岗，独自飘零，
总想去看看外边的世界，闯出自己的天地。

老了老了迎来了奔小康的好年代，
人老心不老，怀揣青年的梦想与冲动，
走南闯北，浪迹天涯，
期盼合家团圆，安享天年。
